Introduction
Thoq is a place for discovering somewhere to go and sharing what you thought of it. This page sets out what we collect, why, where it is kept and what you can do about it. It describes what the app actually does, not what it might do later.
What we collect
- Your account: name and email, and your phone, bio and photo if you add them.
- What you post: your reviews, the feeling and details you choose, and any photo you attach.
- Your location: with your permission, to show nearby places and to confirm you were at a place when you reviewed it. We keep only your most recent location, to tell you when you are near somewhere you saved.
- Voice recordings: when you choose to speak a review, the recording is sent to be turned into text.
- Visit receipts: if you attach one it is stored privately, is never shown to anyone else, and is used only to verify your visit.
- A notification token: your device's Firebase token, so notifications can reach you. It is deleted when you sign out.
- Technical data: error and performance logs used to improve the app.
Why we collect it
- To run the service: showing places, publishing your reviews, working out your taste and levels.
- To support credibility: a visit we can verify gives a review more weight.
- For notifications: at most one a day and three a week, never during quiet hours, and every kind can be switched off individually in settings.
- To keep content safe: text and images are checked before they are published.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Services we rely on
Some features send the minimum necessary data to outside providers:
- OpenAI: turning your voice recording into text, checking text and images before publication, and writing a short description of a place from its reviews. Your name and email are not sent with these requests.
- Google Maps Platform: place data and photos.
- Firebase, by Google: delivering notifications to your device.
- Cloudflare R2: image storage.
What others can see
Your reviews, name, photo and level are visible to other people using Thoq. Your email, phone number, location, receipts and the edit history of your reviews are not visible to anyone but you.
Your rights
- Change your details or delete any review at any time, from inside the app.
- Delete your account and personal data from the app's settings.
- Withdraw location or notification permission in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
- Ask us for a copy of your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data and reviews are deleted, except anything we are required to keep by law.
Children
Thoq is not directed at anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We update it whenever what we collect changes. The date at the top shows the last update.
